Pregnancy Classes

Yoganic specialises in classes for pregnant women. We offer more prenatal classes than any other studio in Sydney with 6 classes throughout the week including morning, evening and weekend classes.

Yoga and Pilates are the best forms of exercise during pregnancy. They're both a gentle and safe means of keeping strong, toned and supple without strain, of keeping aches and pains at bay and energy flowing, of relaxing the mind and body, and preparing physically and mentally for the demands of labour, birth and motherhood.

Visit Yoganic and meet other mums-to-be and indulge in the benefits of prenatal yoga and pilates. It is our intention to make you feel nutrued, calm, comfortable and confident with every class. Our prenatal classes are for women throughout all stages of pregnancy. Each birth is unique and we strive to give special attention to each new mum, whether she is having her first baby or she is a mum already. No previous yoga experience is necessary. Our teachers will offer safe modifications so that you can honour your changing physical body and energy levels.

Prenatal Yoga
By adapting classic yoga postures, breathing, meditation, relaxation techniques and discussion you will develop confidence and nurture your innate wisdom to connect with your unborn baby, to rest, relax and re-energise. Yoga will help you to improve
circulation, ease digestion, strengthen your uterus and pelvic muscles, and simply make you more at ease throughout your pregnancy. We take plenty of time to share and address common challenges we face over the prenatal journey including exhaustion, nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, and back pain. Each class ends with a period of deep relaxation and a cup of organic tea and a chat.

Prenatal Pilates
With the use of small apparatus and your own body weight you will improve your strength, flexibility and endurance throughout your pregnancy. By strengthening the lower back muscles, posture is improved, helping to minimise lower back pain.
Improved circulation leads to more energy and can lessen hemorrhoids, varicose veins, swelling of the hands and feet and cramps. Strengthening the pelvic floor will keep your pelvic floor in tip top shape preventing problems post-bby.

EnergyFlow HypnoBirthing - Hypnosis for Birth
HypnoBirthing is an internationally acclaimed birth education course.
Imagine experiencing a relaxed, calm and natural birth, the way nature intends it to be. The female
body has been designed to grow a baby without conscious awareness, and so it is with birth.
This course is designed to access those innate tools, so mother natures' wonderful endorphins can do their work. There are processes to release all your fears surrounding birth and parenting. As well as how to numb areas of your choosing using self hypnosis.
Partners are also given a practical role in the birthing process, allowing the birthing mother to focus. The course assists parents to develop bonds between themselves, and their baby before, during and after the birth.

The course includes: 
2 CD's and the HypnoBirthing book
Practical processes to release endorphins, as well as how to make each contraction more effective and efficient
Follow up support after the course, and opportunity to debrief after the birth, either by phone or a home visit
Light refreshments are included in the weekend intensives.

Bellydance for Pregnancy
A Pre Natal workshop with Jrisi (the creator of the DVD Bellydance Bubs- A Bellydance Journey Through Pregnancy). This workshop is designed specifically for the particular needs of pregnant women. It incorporates belly dance movements that have
long been assosiated with pregnancy and labor with light toning and stretching exercises to help women feel invigorated, beautiful in their changing bodies, and ready for childbirth. Low impact and fun exercise that will help mum and bub to bond through music.
Absolute beginners are most welcome and no experience is necessary.

Acupressure Workshops for Pain Relief : supporting your natural birth
Here you will learn effective pain relief techniques in a supportive and informative environment using acupressure. Find out how to help keep labour moving along, whilst staying calm and relieving
nausea - all with simple acupressure methods that your partner can learn and apply easily during your birth. In this workshop, you & your partner will come away with precious tools to effectively assist a natural labour. 

Facilitators: Rebecca Mar Young & Naomi Abeshouse from the Red Tent Health Centre in Woollahra. Both Rebecca and Naomi are acupuncturists and Chinese herbalists who specialise in women's health, especially during pregnancy. To find out more about the Red Tent Health Centre, click here
