I am really excited to be creating our first fun run team for the Blackmores Bridge Run on September 15, supporting Borne HMRI.
Why should you join our team?
We’ve got a couple of great reasons!
1. Training with a team (in person or virtually) gives you added support, encouragement from our coach and your fellow team members (we’ll have a private Facebook group) and will help you commit to your goal.
2. We’re going to help you through with a 12 week training program, optional group training runs, Facebook lives with our coach and free workshops such as yoga for runners to help you through your training journey. There will be fundraising prizes for our top fundraisers and Yoganic discounts for anyone who raises $500 or over.
3. You’ll be supporting an amazing cause. We are fundraising for Borne HMRI, an organisation that funds research in to premature birth.
Why did we choose Borne HMRI?
Premature birth is the leading cause of childhood disability and death worldwide. Every year, 15 million babies are born pre-term. 1 million die.
Staggeringly, 1 in 10 babies in Australia are born pre-term.
Premature birth comes at a high emotional and financial cost to our society. Yet it is an issue that no one understands. This is a cause that has impacted many of our clients – and their friends, families and colleagues.
The Borne HMRI collaboration was born out of the dedication of Sarah and Dean Mumm, Borne’s Australian Ambassadors. Sarah is a local mum (known to many of you) and a Yoganic client.
What if I’ve never run before?
That’s ok, our coach Jo Maddison from The Affinity Space has a program for beginners as well as regular runners – and there’s one for the 3.5km family fun run (or half marathon – if you’re keen) as well. We will be with you every step of the way. Jo and I talk about the program in the video below.
How do I sign up?
Step 1: sign up for the Blackmores Bridge Run (or 3.5km Family Fun Run or Half Marathon)
Step 2: sign up through the Yoganic app (under Course & Events) or website, so we know you’ve joined the team and can invite you to our Facebook group, keep you in the loop on your training program and remind you to set up your fundraising page.
Step 3: create your fundraising page through Everyday Hero
