Connect with yourself, challenge your body

Pilates was developed in the early 2oth century by Joseph Pilates, after who it was named. Pilates follows six principles: concentration, control, centering, flow, precision and breathing. There is an emphasis on connecting mind, breath and movement. Pilates is low impact and focuses on flexibility, muscular strength and muscular endurance.

A strong physical and emotional core sustain you through the challenges of life. Pilates is perfect on its own or as a compliment to other sports such as running or skiing to improve your strength and performance. Get a full body workout on a Pilates reformer using spring loaded resistance or challenge yourself on the mat using the resistance of your body weight. FAQ

Do I need to do the Reformer Intro Session before my first class?

If you are new to Reformer Pilates our Intro Session is required before attending your first group class. In this session we will familiarise you with how to use the Reformer equipment, the breathing and the basic exercises. Classes are held the second Saturday of the month at 12pm.

If you are pregnant or postnatal you can join Pregnancy Reformer, Postnatal Reformer or Mums & Bubs Reformer classes without an Intro Session. These classes have a slightly slower pace so it’s easier to incorporate newcomers.

If you are unsure which class is right for you, please contact us.

I have osteoporosis or osteopenia, can I come to regular classes?

If you have osteoporosis or osteopenia we ask that you come to our Buff Bones® classes. These classes are designed to be safe for people with osteoporosis or osteopenia and you will not require any modifications to ensure your own safety. Buff Bones® will also teach you safe movement patterns you can incorporate in to day-to-day life. If you are coming to classes regularly and wish to attend regular classes, please talk to your teacher about whether this is suitable.

Do I need to bring anything to class?

For safety and hygiene reasons, grips socks must be worn in all Pilates Reformer and Barre classes. If you do not have a pair, you can purchase a pair at the studio for $20.

We also ask that you don’t wear leggings with zippers as they damage the upholstery on the Pilates Reformers.

Please bring a mat to Pilates Mat and Buff Bones® Mat classes. You don’t need to bing a mat to Pilates Reformer classes,.

We suggest you bring a bottle of water.
