Yoga and Mindfulness for Teens
Our Teens Yoga and Mindfulness course are designed to promote healthy physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development in our teens. Yoga is a fun way to keep fit and flexible in a non-competitive environment, while developing self-awareness and self-confidence. Classes include breathing, postures and movement, partner yoga postures, short mindfulness discussions, relaxation and meditation. Yoga practice encourages a cultivation of mindful awareness which can be supportive of our teens lives as they navigate and meet life changes and challenges. It will help them embrace the ups & downs of adolescence, manage stress/anxiety around study and friendships, help improve sleep, promote healthy body image and strengthen self-confidence.
Research has shown that gratitude can improve overall well-being, reduce stress and depression and increase resilience. We’ll integrate gratitude into our movement and meditation practice. This last class will be fun as we’ll focus on some arm balances which can be challenging but also make us appreciate our own inner strength and mental focus. Class ends with a lengthy relaxation practice.
Our teens will learn to transition from ecstatic activity to blissful silence. The learn to move from the inside out, exploring their bodies to discover what makes them feel good. No experience required.
Wednesday 5:15pm during term time.
